Our society’s continued wastefulness is beyond logic. These ideas have been around since Led Zeppelin III was released.

Sometimes a FB meme says it best:

It’s pretty amazing that our society has reached a point where the effort necessary to extract oil from the ground, ship it to a refinery, turn it into plastic, shape it appropriately, truck it to a store, buy it, and bring it home is considered to be less effort than what it takes to just wash the spoon when you’re done with it.

Current recycling systems further justify the insane single-use culture of our times. Undervalued raw materials; unlimited dumping space; and a lack of market for recycled content in new products are all issues which the Recycling industry must address to be a viable alternative.

Meet needs, not whims.

Design with the ecosystem in mind from the start of a product’s existence.

Respect materials; use and re-use them well.
